Since 2014, SOMA Day has hosted celebrations of world social media day in Kenya. The national Celebrations bring together social media users, policy makers and enablers of social media to celebration the growth and influence of social media in Kenya. Every year has a specific theme that connects with Kenyans and the rest of the world.

World Social Media Day was launched by Mashable in 2010 to recognize the digital revolution and create social media awareness. Each year thousands of people organize offline meet ups across the globe to recognize and celebrate the growth of social media globally. Kenya has continued to be part of the Mashable social Media Day celebrating the growth of Social media with key stakeholders.
